EXPLORING ANDALUSIA: HIKING TRIP THROUGH ANDALUSIA’S NATURAL PARKS

A JOURNEY THROUGH ANDALUSIA’S NATURAL WONDERS

Embark on an unforgettable adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of Andalusia, Spain. This journey will take you through the rugged mountains, deep gorges, and ancient forests of some of the region's most spectacular natural parks.

From the historic town of Ronda, perched dramatically above the El Tajo gorge, you’ll explore diverse hiking routes ranging from challenging ascents to relaxing valley walks, surrounded by awe-inspiring views. Marvel at the towering Spanish firs in Sierra de las Nieves, traverse the iconic Caminito del Rey along sheer cliff walls and discover the serene plains of the Llanos de Líbar. Each day presents a new adventure, whether it’s summiting peaks like Pico Torrecilla and Pico Aljibe or walking through the peaceful oak forests of Grazalema Natural Park, which is rich in wildlife.

As the trip progresses, you’ll move from the mountain highlands to the coastal beauty of Cádiz, where you can relax on golden beaches or continue exploring with a scenic coastal hike. With accommodation in charming towns like Ronda and Conil de la Frontera, this adventure offers the perfect balance between nature and culture, giving you time to soak in the history and traditions of Andalusia.

Whether tackling the demanding climbs or enjoying more leisurely paths, this trip offers something for every adventurer, with landscapes that are as diverse as they are stunning.

Join us for an incredible journey filled with nature, history, and the vibrant spirit of southern Spain.

We also stay at Parador Nacional de Ronda, a fantastic hotel with magnificent views and a restaurant.

Depending on your brief, we can facilitate “A” walkers with more challenging options,  “B” walkers with shorter walks with more peaks & “C” walkers with comfortable walks featuring areas of historic or cultural interest.   The choice is yours. Just let us know in advance.

Day 1. ARRIVAL IN MALAGA OR SEVILLE

Upon arrival in Málaga or Seville, transfer to the picturesque mountain town of Grazalema. After a short briefing, enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation in Hotel Fuerte Grazalema ****.

Day 2. NATIONAL PARK SIERRA DE LAS NIEVES

LEVEL A: HIKE TO TORRECILLA PEAK (16 KM, +900m/-900m)

Start your adventure by hiking to Pico Torrecilla, one of Málaga's highest peaks at 1,919 meters. The route will take you through the stunning Cañadas del Cuerno and de las Ánimas, where you'll encounter beautiful forests of Spanish firs. At the summit, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Andalusia, including landmarks like La Maroma, El Torreón, and Mulhacén. Dinner and overnight in Grazalema.

LEVEL B: HIKE TO PINSAPAR DE LA YEDRA AND CERRO ALCAZABA (13 KM, +540m/-540m)

This route explores one of the best-preserved ravines in the Sierra. Along the way, you'll pass through ancient, majestic Spanish fir forests. A gradual ascent leads to Puerto de los Pilones, followed by a climb to the summit of Cerro de la Alcazaba (1,689 meters). Return via the same route. Dinner and overnight in Grazalema.

Day 3. CAMINITO DEL REY

LEVEL A & B. One of Spain’s most iconic hikes, the Caminito del Rey offers a thrilling experience as you walk along secure pathways attached to the cliffs of El Chorro Gorge in the Guadalhorce Valley. The route is a mix of forest trails and cliffside walkways. Dinner and overnight in Grazalema.

Day 4. NATURAL PARK SIERRA DE GRAZALEMA

LEVEL A: LLANOS DE LÍBAR (17 KM, +650m/-550m)

After breakfast, transfer to Cortes de la Frontera to begin a trek through the plains of Llanos de Líbar, ending at the village of Montejaque. This high plateau, over 1,000 meters above sea level, offers fascinating karst landscapes with sinkholes and potholes. Despite its altitude, the walk feels like a stroll through a valley surrounded by mountains. Dinner and overnight in Grazalema.

LEVEL B: MONTEJAQUE TO GRAZALEMA (15 KM, +300m/-165m)

Enjoy a relaxed yet scenic walk along the Guadares River in a narrow valley at an altitude of 600 meters. You'll traverse oak and cork oak forests within the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, home to wildlife like wild boars and deer. Dinner and overnight in Grazalema.

Day 5. NATURAL PARK SIERRA DE GRAZALEMA

LEVEL A & B. EL PINSAPAR DE GRAZALEMA (11 KM, +470M/-1,100M)

Embark on a classic hike through the famed Pinsapar forest in the heart of Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. The trail leads to Benamahoma via the Puerto de las Cumbres (1,304 meters). Upon arrival, visit the charming village of Benamahoma. Dinner and overnight in Grazalema.

Day 6. NATURAL PARK LOS ARCONOCALES

LEVEL A: PICO ALJIBE AND EL PICACHO (14 KM, +800m/-800m)

Travel to Alcornocales Natural Park for a moderate climb to the summit of Pico Aljibe, the park's highest point. This point offers splendid views of the Sierra de Ronda and Grazalema. After the hike, transfer to the coastal town of Conil de la Frontera. Dinner and overnight in Conil.

LEVEL B: EL PICACHO (9 KM, +500m/-500m)

This route begins at the El Picacho recreational area, near the El Picacho nature centre. The climb to Picacho, the emblematic peak of Los Alcornocales Natural Park, allows us to get up close to the Aljibe mountain range, the second-highest in the province at 882 meters, much of which will be visible to us. The relative difficulty of the climb is especially compensated by the views of much of the province of Cádiz: Alcalá de los Gazules, Barbate, Vejer de la Frontera, and the neighbouring Sierra de Grazalema. Afterwards, transfer to Conil de la Frontera. Dinner and overnight in Conil.
