Day 1. ARRIVAL IN SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

  • Flight from Dublin to Santiago de Compostela.
  • 3-5 km guided historic tour of Baiona Fort & a replica of the "La Pinta" from Columbus' expedition.
  • Dinner at a local Galician restaurant in Vigo, such as Safron or Casa Rita.

Your day begins with a scenic drive from the airport to the hotel, followed by a short rest. Then, embark on a 3-5 km walk around Baiona, visiting the fort that encircles the 5-star Parador hotel and the replica of "La Pinta," the first ship to return from Columbus' voyage. Learn about the fort's history and its significance. Later, enjoy a dinner of traditional Galician cuisine. Accommodation is at Hotel Oca Ipanema *** or something similar in Vigo/Baiona.



Day 2. CELTIC EXPERIENCE & COASTAL WALK

  • Santa Tecla: Explore the ancient Celtic settlement.
  • Portuguese Way: A stunning 10 km coastal walk (3-4 hours, moderate level).
  • Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day two takes you to Santa Tecla, located 30 minutes away on the Portuguese border, where you'll discover an authentic Celtic village with panoramic views over the Rio Miño. After a picnic lunch, you’ll head to Oia for a walk along the beautiful Portuguese Way, part of the Camino de Santiago. Enjoy ancient petroglyphs carved by Neolithic peoples, which were millennia before the Celts arrived. Accommodation is at Hotel Oca Ipanema *** or something similar in Vigo/Baiona.



Day 3. HEAVEN ON EARTH - THE ISLAS CÍES

  • Islas Cíes: Visit the islands, with beaches ranked among the world's top 10.
  • Lighthouse Faro de Cíes: A 4-5 hour coastal walk (8-10 km, moderate level).
  • Boat trip: 40-minute ferry ride from Vigo.

On day three, you’ll take a short boat trip to the idyllic Islas Cíes, often compared to the Caribbean. Walk from lighthouse to lighthouse while enjoying the scenic coastline, pine forests, and diverse flora and fauna. Relax on the pristine beach afterwards and swim in the turquoise sea. There’s also a café near the beach for refreshments. Accommodation is at Hotel Oca Ipanema *** or something similar in Vigo/Baiona.



Day 4. COASTAL CHARM & WINE TASTING

  • Cambados: Boat trip and tour of the shellfish farms of Ría de Arousa.
  • Winery tour: Visit top wineries such as Fefiñanes or Martín Códax.
  • Dinner: In Cambados, a picturesque fishing village known for Albariño wines.

After breakfast, travel 85 km to Cambados for a boat tour to learn about Galicia’s famed shellfish industry. Taste mussels and clams straight from the sea, accompanied by Albariño wine. Then, visit a local winery with vines over 150 years old before a delightful dinner in Cambados. Accommodation is at Parador Hotel or something similar in Costa Da Morte.



Day 5. CABO FISTERRA & THE COAST OF DEATH

  • Cabo Fisterra: Tour the “End of the Earth.”
  • Falls of Ézaro: See the only river in Europe that flows into the sea as a waterfall.
  • Costa da Morte: 4-hour coastal walk with breathtaking views.

On the fifth day, visit the dramatic Cape Finisterre, known as the “End of the Earth,” steeped in Roman, Celtic, and Christian history. Stop at the spectacular Falls of Ézaro before embarking on a 4-hour walk along the awe-inspiring Costa da Morte. Accommodation is at Parador Hotel or something similar in Costa Da Morte.



Day 6. SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA - A JOURNEY’S END

  • Guided tour: Explore the medieval city.
  • Free time: Enjoy Santiago at your own pace.

After breakfast, head to Santiago de Compostela, the heart of the Camino. You can opt for a guided walking tour of the city or explore independently. Visit one of the Irish colleges and immerse yourself in local music at Casa Das Crechas. Accommodation at Hotel Exe Peregrino or similar.



Day 7. DEPARTURE

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight.

  IT INCLUDES:
  • 3 nights in Hotel Bahia in Baiona or Hotel Oa Ipanema in Vigo or similar
  • 2 nights in Hotel Parador, Cambados or Hotel A de Lolo, Muxia or similar
  • 1 night in Exe Peregrino Santiago or similar
  • 6 Breakfasts
  • 4 dinners - experience the gastronomy of Galicia

Each of the tours in the program is the core tour.  They will be tailored to suit your particular briefing & adapted to the real-time climatic conditions on the day of the walk.  Depending on your brief, we can facilitate “A” walkers with more challenging options,  “B” walkers with shorter walks with more peaks & “C” walkers with comfortable walks featuring areas of historic or cultural interest.   The choice is yours; just let us know in advance.  We will adapt the tour program to your needs. 

TERMS & CONDITIONS

 

TOUR GROUPS 

The minimum number necessary to complete a tour is 8 clients.  They may all be from a Walking Club or a group of friends or a number of individuals who we would group with others to fill a tour.  To ensure the safety of each member of the tour & their enjoyment of the walks, clients must inform the tour company of their competence level A or B or C.  This should be done at the time the client is discussing the reservation with the tour company.  Each route has been designed to the commonly used competency standards of hillwalking clubs, members of Mountaineering, Ireland. 

 

WALKERS LEVELS

Tour groups may be composed of walkers of all similar levels or a mix of different levels both of fitness & experience. As indicated above, clubs & individuals should make their level known to the tour company well in advance so that the walks offered in the tour program fit the appropriate levels & the tour is costed & priced accordingly.  While minor adjustments may be made during the tour, it is best for the enjoyment of all to divide the group into different competence levels & walk the route best suited to their abilities.  The minimum number is 4 for each such group & the group will be allocated a Guide & the cost of these guides & transport will be included in the overall price of the tour. 

 

TOUR STRUCTURE

The tour company reserves the right to make changes to the structure of the tour program in advance of the tour start date where it considers it necessary to do so & will consult with the clients in advance. The circumstances where changes may be required may include weather conditions, flight/airport connection changes, cost increases of hotels, transport, guides or such other events that are material to the company not incurring a financial loss.

  

DEPOSIT

A deposit of €300 is required to reserve a place on tour.  The Deposit should be paid immediately to ensure that the tour company Rumbo a Picos can confirm your reservation & to ensure that the minimum number required to run the tour has been reached. 

 

FINAL PAYMENT

Final payment must be made not later than 30 days before the tour start date.  

 

CANCELLATION POLICY

 

  • The tour company Rumbo a Picos reserves the right to cancel the tour if there are not the minimum number of participants, up to 30 days prior to the tour start date.  In the event of such cancellation, participants shall be refunded 100% of the payments they have made to the tour company Rumbo a Picos. The refund shall be made by Bank Transfer to the client’s bank account within 7 days of the notified cancellation. 
  • If the client cancels his/her booking prior to the tour start date, to cover the tour company’s costs & administrative expenses the company will retain for a cancellation prior to 90days/€50, 60days/€100, 30days/€150 and will refund to the client all other payments received by the company from the client.
  • If the client cancels his/her booking within 30 days of the tour start date, the tour company will not make any refund to the client.
  • The tour company reserves the right to modify the tour program & the itinerary in the event of circumstances outside of its control such as Force Majure, severe or unsuitable weather or any other circumstances it considers necessary to ensure the safety of the tour participants. 
  • If a participant decides to abandon the tour for whatever reason, he/she should inform the Guide in writing of their decision.  Any related expenses must be paid by the participant.  

 

INSURANCES

 

INSURANCE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. This insurance covers exclusively the risks related to your hiking activities with us and as a passenger in our company transport foreseen in the trip. It does not cover travel insurance.  

 

All customers must have travel and medical insurance. They should bring a copy with them, give it to the Rumbo a Picos leading guides at the start of the trip. Your insurance should include adequate protection for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment and travel cancellation expenses.
