WHAT TO BRING:
This Trekking takes us into the wonderful mountain scenery of Picos de Europa National Park. This tour explores the Picos de Europa National Park with walks in the wild landscapes of the western, central and eastern massifs.
Physical requirements
Transportation and Luggage We drive in a van (9 places), which is ideal for getting around the mountain roads in a familiar and flexible way. We recommend bringing one main piece of baggage and a daypack, better than a rigid suitcase, because we have limited space in the vehicle.
The purpose of this project is for the National Park to become better known. Within a historical context, the “Anillo” (Ring) of Picos de Europa covers the Montes Vindios, known today as Picos de Europa.
Everything in this route in Picos de Europa is spectacular: the rocky crests, the gorges, the valleys, the vast glacial lakes, the leafy forests. You can rest assured that you’ll be absolutely amazed at everything you see.
Every stone found on the wayside by people who wish to venture into the Ring amasses many different stories, many will be rescued from oblivion thanks to the National Park shelters and to the work of the wardens.

This walking adventure takes you deep into the remarkable landscapes of Picos de Europa National Park.
Situated in the Cantabrian Mountains, the park extends across Asturias, Cantabria and the province of León. Its three great limestone massifs rise dramatically above deep valleys, river gorges, Atlantic forests and traditional mountain villages.
Explore the contrasting landscapes of the Western, Central and Eastern Massifs, each offering its own distinctive scenery and walking challenges.
The Picos de Europa contain approximately 200 summits rising above 2,000 metres. The highest is Torrecerredo, reaching 2,646 metres in the Central Massif.
Millions of years of geological activity and water erosion have created a spectacular world of sharp peaks, deep gorges, caves and towering limestone walls.
The Picos de Europa rise surprisingly close to Spain’s northern coast. From their high ridges and viewpoints, walkers can enjoy magnificent views towards the Cantabrian Sea and across the distinctively sculpted limestone peaks.
Deep valleys and green mountain pastures create a striking contrast with the high rocky summits. Livestock continues to graze on these upland pastures, preserving a way of life that has shaped the landscape for generations.
The park’s great variation in altitude, climate and terrain supports a rich diversity of habitats, from Atlantic beech and oak forests to mountain grasslands and exposed limestone summits.
The region is home to an exceptional variety of wildlife, including:
Wild animals live freely within a vast mountain environment and sightings can never be guaranteed.
The Picos de Europa have a long human history, from prehistoric communities and ancient peoples to Roman routes and centuries-old pastoral traditions.
Small villages lie within the valleys and around the mountain massifs, offering an authentic introduction to rural life in northern Spain.
Traditional architecture, local customs and regional gastronomy remain an essential part of the Picos de Europa experience.
This tour combines rewarding mountain walks with natural, cultural and environmental experiences.
It is an opportunity to explore the Picos de Europa in depth, discover the distinctive character of each massif, and experience one of Europe's most extraordinary mountain regions.
